Searching for Contentment in a World of Ambition

As I sit here on Christmas break, with my work duties no longer completely occupying my thoughts, I find my mind restless. Maybe it’s the passivity of life I find myself in right now—too many things hanging in the balance, not much moving forward. Too often, I catch myself comparing my progress in life to the achievements of others. I mean, I’m 35 and have not made my mark on this world yet! Some notable people like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg began making their mark before their 20s.

But as these thoughts creep in, I am continually reminded: I am where I am because God wants me here. He foresaw every single one of us wherever we are in life. He knew about us before we existed, planned our paths before we were even a thought to our parents—before the world itself was created.

And with all of that in His hands, why should we concern ourselves with anything other than what God has placed right in front of us? His plan is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our expectations. Our purpose is not measured by worldly achievements but by living for His glory, trusting Him each step of the way. He knows what the next steps are before we do.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV) “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Romans 11:36 (NIV) “For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.”

As we enter the new year, let’s focus on glorifying God in every step we take, trusting His perfect plan for our lives!
